USEFUL LINKS

Links we use in class that can also be used at home

Read works
Check out readworks for tons of reading passages. Assignments will also be here with comprehension questions.

Mathletics
Here is the Mathletics login site. You can use your child's password from class to access their account. They can complete overdue assignments or practice math facts here. There is also an app available on iOS if you are interested for you iPad or phone.

Code.org
Code.org walks students through the basics of coding in small simple lessons. There is tons of room for various levels of programmers to work on, from "I've never coded" to "I'd like to make my own stuff". Parents, you can either set up an account with your child to work through together or they can use their password from class to continue with what they are doing there.

Scratch
Once you have mastered code.org's lesson head over to Scratch. Scratch takes the lesson about coding and gives you an open sandbox to play in and create. In class we use a downloaded version of this program, so it may not look the same as the link below.

Microbit
Microbits are a small computer with an LED screen (and a ton of other stuff like a compass and light sensor). They can hold one program at a time. What that program is is completely up to you, the creator. It can be as simple as a picture of a heart, to a watch, to a motion sensor and so much more. Microbit has its own block based coding platform, just like code.org and Scratch. Have fun with it, explore with it, invent with it. You can even playing with programming them if you don't have one as the editor shows you what it will look like as you program.
